WTF
My beloved Iron Chef has been replaced by the smelly finals of the Eurovision Song Contest! WTF! We have some pretty respectable Bulgarian drummers a dreadful Cypriot flat fling and a Russian Gaybo with creepy dancers. Will someone tell me, is this serious. I remember many many years ago someone called Sandy Shaw winning this thing with bare feet and a song called Puppet on a String and Buck's Fizz with something else, I can't remember. They don't even play live, there are no fold backs, leads or amps . .believe me I've been a drummy mummy for years and I understand the technology behind a gig . . is it serious or a should I be taking it with a grain of salt? Save me. I want to watch Japanese chefs destroying giant octopus!
Iron Chef ... what a legend of a TV show ...
ReplyDeleteBang the gong - we weren't on! I was mighty pissed off.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those times I'm really glad to live in the US. There is NO Eurovision here!!!
ReplyDeleteI prefer Emeril Lagasse, the Portuguese guy from New Jersey who is thinks he's a Coon-ass cook just because he owns a restaurant in NO.
Ha ha ha - Brian, I'm sure it's mighty uncool to say coon-ass unless you are one!
ReplyDeleteDon't knock Eurovision!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing quite as obscenely rigged to watch in a calendar year.
Next year, being hosted in Belgrade, Serbia (that's in eastern europe for the geographically challenged americans out there). Should prove to be an interesting show.
The UK & Ireland ended at the bottom of the ladder. Always refreshing to see.
I can imagine it would be good to be in the US, no Eurovision. Instead, you get a thousand different variations of the same knock-off reality TV show. Thrilling.
Ha ha . . Hiya sweet pea! You Macedonian misfit! . . .and be polite to my Amerkin friend. (the other is Oirsh don't be misled by the silly name and dubious flag! And I like Big Brother!
ReplyDeletePS: I owe you lunch!
So next year it's being done in Serbia. Are you sure they will have electricity during the whole show? I understand the goat powered generators used all over the Balkins are not that efficient.
ReplyDeleteSteady boys. No falling out on my watch! If you don't like Eurovisin, you'll always have Dancing with the Stars and It Takes Two, American/Australian Idol and Popstar! We're spoiled for choice. Just don't take Iron Chef off to air them!
ReplyDeleteここに鉄のシェフはある (There is the chef of the iron here)
Have fun with this one: http://babelfish.altavista.com/tr
ここに鉄のシェフはある = koko ni (something) no airo wa a ro.
ReplyDeleteStill got the Japanese in me!!!
(nerd..)
Goats have been found to be the most efficient source of generating power in Eastern Europe. Clean, environmentally friendly, and providers of cheese.
ReplyDeleteIt's true that we don't have as efficient an electricity grid as the United States...

How backwards we are....
Sorry, for some reason that link on the last comment didnt work... here it is again for the curious...
ReplyDelete2003 North America Blackout
I feel a song coming on; "High on a hill there's a lonely goatherd . . " perhaps not.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say Eastern Europe is backwards. One would have to understand what is modern to be able to step backwards.
ReplyDeleteSo we're comparing the North Americam power grid that supplies hundreds of millions of people electricity day in and day out to the goat powered generators of the Balkins?
I'm sorry, I can't do battle with an unarmed man.
It the Balkans ya Amerkun!
ReplyDeleteI was using the Aussie spelling, Sheila!
ReplyDeleteDid I ever tell ya' my best friend Jim named his austrailian shepard Sheila. She just died at 14 years old.
Thanks so much for sharing . . .can we move on now?
