One of the few times I'm happy that we're a commonwealth country is the Queen's Birthday long weekend We've had a bonfire and sausage sizzle on this weekend now for almost 25 years. This year was also combined with Australia's effort in the World Cup against Germany but hey, we knew that was going to be a shamozzle from the outset but we didn't expect the humiliating tag of being the only country so far to lose by a margin of 4 goals.
Hey, we got into it anyway:

 Trees were 'pruned'

Beer was chilled

Sofa beds were made

Fashion was dubious

Anti Paparazzi masks were donned

Pyro's were studded

Petrol was poured

Fire was born

Supporters were avid

Oops perhaps a little too much petrol!

My 'unimpressed' face - beware  little children this is the 'look ' you get when I am not very happy!

And at  4am we watched Australia annihilated by the Germans and Tim Cahill received a red card for such a trivial misdemeanour . . .looks like we'll be barracking for Brasil. Yay, I can wear the same silly hat! Yeh, no apologies, I am a sucker for a stupid hat!

  1. I like the anti-paparazzi mask. Wouldn't it be fun if celebs took to wearing them en masse? The snappers would be VERY frustrated.

So it's a colonial holiday. Still, any excuse for some time off and lounging about, I say.

Well, look the positive side. I gained some points on Germany. There is a website, where you can guess the results of the games.

    Your beer bottles are weird.

  5. The fashion was véry dubious and some underwear was being adjusted?

Anyway, commiserations on the stupid football game result. Nothing that a few extra beers can't alleviate I should think.

(meanwhile, I could hear the neighbours yelling some time ago, so I guess the Dutch have scored a goal. Oh yippee.)

  6. Hmmmm... Interesting clothing you all wear to football rallies. Although still not as weird as US football fans who paint themselves in the team colors.

And were you glaring at the photographer for daring to snap you, or was the "look" aimed at the final score?

  7. oooo scary face! good call to stick w/ same colors and a team that has them. we don't follow soccer, er, your football over here. some do, I guess. i dunno. Beckham doesn't bend it for me. :)

  16. Nice hat Baino, really suits you.
I love reading about your bonfire/sausage sizzles. The photos always make me laugh.

I ignored the soccer altogether. I realise it's still on and I'm still ignoring it.

  20. oh that's right, when I was a kid we had bonfires and firecrackers to celebrate the Queens birthday long weekend. Those were the good ol' days except when peoples hands and faces were blown apart by dodgy or careless handling of explosives, petrol and matches.
