No post today, just some instructions from Blogger on how to provide a URL link to your comments. They've been playing silly buggers with Open ID. Follow the instructions below if you want your name to link back to your URL when you comment.
Right now, the only way to add a URL to your name when commenting is to sign your comment with OpenID.Off to the outlaws tomorrow for an early Chrismas Dinner and pressie exchange (ooooh I love pressies!) so back on 17th with more banal banter. Have a great weekend everyone!
Oooh, I had to change mine back to 'everyone' can comment because some don't have OpenID ...
ReplyDeleteOHHHH have fun!!!
It shits me to tears but it's free so I guess we can't complain!
ReplyDeleteHuh? Wha'? Huh? Nope, sorry, must be too much sun, this is lost on me. Do I have to do something? Open something? Cook something? What the hell is open ID? Please don't make me go and read instructions, I tend to be a bit like a fella when it comes to reading instructions...
ReplyDeleteAV: All you have to do is make sure that you have "everyone" under the Comments tab on your "Customise" page. You'll find that people making comments on your blog from blogs other than Blogger (eg Wordpress), won't link back to their own websites unless they follow the instructions on this post. Depends whether it's important to click and find your commenters from the comment pages or not.
ReplyDeleteWhen they make a comment, under Choose and identity . . . they need to select their blog provider. That's all. Easy peasy.
We-ell, I set it to "anyone" a while back when I realised that wordpress folk couldn't leave comments. But I find that I can't link back to some folk via comments anyway, despite it being set to "anyone" - like Nonny for example! So I guess maybe it's them who have to tweak something and I can just go to bed now and quite bothering about it...?
ReplyDeleteSorry but I've got to go with AbVan on tis one. The "instructions" are vague and made me say, huh?
ReplyDeleteWere you to tell folks to click the combo box that says "Blogger/Google" and choose "Any OpenID" provider.... etc. I think it would be a bit clearer even though that doesn't work either.
Not my fault doods. You're supposed to "Sign-in using" whatever whatever blog site you're using when you comment. I think. Worked for Gaye but doesn't for Grannymar or Brian apparently . . .all are on Wordpress.
