Nome de Plume (aka Friday Fuckwits)

Irish Garda (Police) have just realised that for years, they have been taking the details of Polish traffic offenders and mistakenly using Prawo Jazdy, printed in the top right corner of the driving license as the holder’s name! . . .

Gotta love ‘em!

Are you taking the piss? ;-)

"Prawo Jazdy" is Polish for "Driving Licence". Gardai thought it was a Polish name and had booked this 'individual' for 50 driving offences. Unfortunately, the "Ah, sure it'll do" mentality won't 'do' in this instance.

Wonder if the Garda can read Russian?

  4. Haha . . you've gotta admit, it's funny! Especially since there are so many Poles in Ireland. Loved it.

That it won't Grow Up. Maybe they could spend the levy on a little multicultural education for the cops.

I doubt it Subby. I'm actually surprised that immigrants/visitors are allowed to drive with their native licenss at all. Here it has to be Aussie or an Interational Licence, both written in English.

Silly buggers. Obviously the holder's name is the one in the right hand corner. Now Mr Rzeczpospolita, what's your excuse? So how hard is it to look for the figure 1?

I love this story, hilarious :-)

  7. So, because it isn't "him" on the fines sheet, I guess he doesn't have to pay up? They'll have to collect the money from "Prawo jazdy".

  8. That story is so funny. Mr. Jazdy should of been arrested every time they stopped him and ran a background check. I wonder how they felt when they found out what it meant.

Oh unfortunately it is true and it was only after a string of traffic offenses accross the country and numerous no shows in court that the word to apprehend Mr Jadzy was passed down. The next Polish guy to be stopped must have been totally confused.
Garda (into squakbox): 'Sir, I think we have him!'
    (to driver) Prawo Jadzy?
Driver: Yes (points to driving license), Prawo Jadzy!
Garda: Step out of the veh- hi- cle!

    That is hilarious! :)

Ya better hope Gaye doesn't read the word, "Poles". That's not politically correct. :)

There were a lot of Polish people in Ireland when I was there, but I reckon a lot of them have turned tail and ran home since the worldwide economic collapse.

To be fair to the Guards, Prawo Jazdy appears where a person's name appears on an Irish licence.

Had I the choice between our dear old Gardai and a police force that shoots unarmed Brazilian tourists or a police force that just shoots people, full stop, I wouldn't take long in deciding.

  19. LOL!! Oh, this is funny! I can't imagine what they felt like when they're realized the mistake ... I wonder if the driver's got a good chuckle out of it when they looked at the name on their ticket. :D

  20. Thanks folks. Not much else to say other than I'll try to be more even next week and find an Aussie fuckwit. There's plenty around.

  21. Don't feel compelled to find an Aussie fuckwit just for us. After all fuckwittedness is pretty universal.
