A gang in Ireland on Monday and forced him to eat part of his own ear, police say.
The man, 21, is recovering in hospital.
The attack occurred in Newbridge. Police said the gang dragged the man down a lane and beat him with a hammer and a metal bar.
The suspects cut off part of the man's ear and forced him to eat it, police said.
He also suffered injuries to his head, jaw and leg.
No arrests have been made.
Er hello? No arrests? Only in Ireland.
Have a good weekend everyone. Thank God for Wine Club and no, can't talk about Wine Club. I will survive.
The man wasn't called Van Gogh by any chance?
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your lost job btw. What incredibly bad luck. But as you say, you're highly employable and there's another job for you somewhere. Back to the job-hunting treadmill....
ReplyDeleteThey're going to present you with a pen? Hmm, wouldn't you rather have a big fat cheque?
ReplyDeleteWell, at least you get cake.
Hopefully you also get a glowing reference, to kick start your new job search.
Good luck.
downsizing again??Oh crap!!
ReplyDeleteThis week the 3rd policeman was killed by a 15 yr old with an automatic weapon.25 years on the force.
HMMM, SAID THE BLURKER...guess what??? NOT HAVING A 'JOB' DOESN'T MAKE YOU ANY LESS VALUABLE.
ReplyDeleteI think the universe is telling you to get a writing job.
ReplyDeleteGood luck girlfriend....
jobs come and go...so whats the next stepping stone?
ReplyDeleteBest of luck in finding a new job. Yes, you ARE very employable as well as clever and witty ...any place would be better for having you there. :)
ReplyDeleteThe ear...Ew.
honey, you will more than survive. it's in your DNA to THRIVE. just look at your kids and you can see that. damn that this has happened and damn who knows why, but my money is always on you.
ReplyDeletefyi: i believe there is a factual basis that i was right last time and i believe i will be right again. plans await you.
LOVE
kj
Oh shit, that's bad luck indeed. Ah well, things happen for a reason. I'm sure your actual dream job (and you thought this one was, ha!) is lurking around a corner somewhere. (Hopefully not in Ireland near a gang of very disturbed criminals.)
ReplyDeleteBig hug and enjoy the wine and the cake and you could use that pen to write the addresses of publishers on the envelopes with your manuscripts in it. Or a catering service? Isn't that an idea?
Major OUCH on losing the job! With your skills, though, a new job should be just around the corner.
ReplyDeleteOh no...more job hunting. I am so sorry to hear about your lay-off. Darn. Here's hoping the next job is even better than this one. Could be, ya know.
ReplyDeleteSo, maybe this is the cue to write full time? WAIT, I know, I know...one must have MONEY to live in the meantime!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the job. REALLY STINKS.
Oh Helen - but what everyone is saying is right - there are many sites where you can bid for writing jobs - and some of the pay quite well - it can't hurt to join..... i'm going to......
ReplyDeleteKeep safe and keep your chin up lady!!!!
Sorry to hear about the job. You were in a similar position around this time last year wasn't it? Good luck with finding a BETTER job.
ReplyDelete*secret* our book club is really a wine club, ssshhh..
but cake is good!
ReplyDeleteerrr...what was the point of that ticket writing electric truck video. I did like how he let the crooks the goods--hey, he probably would have been fired if he tried to intervene.
That is really crap. I'm sure there's something out there for you which doesn't involve sitting in an office... rots of ruck.
ReplyDeleteI was reading all your fun posts of the last month and enjoying them. Then I came to the last one. I am sorry about your job – that really sucks. Economy there must be like in California. My daughter has lost her last 2 jobs like that too. I hope you'll find something you like – in not too long.
ReplyDeleteum, it would really suck to be forced to eat human, especially yourself!
ReplyDeleteOh bugger! Really sorry about the job. Hope the cake is good and that it's not long before you find a great place to work.
ReplyDeletechrist!
ReplyDeleteCrumbs - sorry to hear it.
ReplyDeleteIf it's not too late, try to arrange to have something enjoyable to do later in the day after the pen presentation. If you're like me, it heads off a potential brooding session.
So sorry about the job. They didn't know what they had. But as you said, you are highly employable, and a better job is no doubt just around the corner, one where they will value your talents and pay you handsomely for them.
ReplyDeleteOh no! You lost your job? Hugs, sweetie.
ReplyDeleteThe Irish fuckwits are very fuckwitty, I think. You can't get more fuckwitty or moronic that to do something like that.
Just so's you know; arresting people in Ireland costs money. Money we apparently are giving to bankers instead of shooting the fuckers; billions of euro in fact. So being a crazed fucked-up criminal in Ireland is not so bad now.
ReplyDeleteAt least some are doing good from the fuck-ups of our governments.
Best of luck on the job front. But don't rush it if you can afford not to.
