Watched "Ghost Writer" not bad, then I have a mighty crush on Ewan McGreggor. Then Nick Cage in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," not to be mistaken for the Disney classic cartoon. Lots of explosions and effects but generally a yawn and my 'mostly online friend has secured work at the LA "So You Think You Can Dance" Auditions for the next few days, so that he can afford a big bottle of Chanel No. 5, so no time-wasting on Skype.
What's a girl to do? Meh! Just take the dog and the camera for a spin. Since I have no cash, I went to meet the other Merry Widow at the Castle Hill Grower's Market on Saturday morning at some un-Godly hour but had a coffee, a chat, and took the Lilster for a little walky-poo, (of course that's a real word) around the showground. No possums, roos or hot, hot men. Just a cock or two, er, I mean Cockatoo.
Just one, high in a sawn-off branch. Unusual because they're usually in flocks |
Now, how to get into said hollow branch |
Check the circumference, measure against diameter |
Perfect, backwards entry successful |
Amazes me how something so colourful can be so hard to spot - then they're noisy as hell |
Rainbow Lorikeet sucking up some Red Flowering Gum delicousness |
Look at his likkle footsies |
Acrobats all, when it comes to nectar |
Lily living in my shadow- oops bit over exposed that one. |
Arse-end view of the world. Lucky me. |
Love the one of the cocky peering out of the tree trunk - he looks so pleased with himself!
ReplyDeletesounds like you've done heaps this weekend!
ReplyDeletelove your pics, i cant help but smile when i see parrots with all their antics
i envy you your spin, and am dreaming of cockatoo vacations
ReplyDeleteSounds as if you've been doing things, even though they're slightly less exciting! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove the park piccies. The Rainbow Lorikeet I remember from a set of cigarette cards my best friend and I used to collect at school; Tropical Birds. Neither of us ever thought that we'd get to see any of these amazing creatures but here I am visiting blogs and seeing them in photographs!! So while I'm not actually the one seeing them, I'm seeing them second-hand as it were, and it's almost as much of a thrill!
Rainbow Lorikeet ... maybe he was the one who got us both into such trouble when we were swapping cards under the desk in class that day! LOL!
ha that first one is playing a bitof hide and seek...sounds like a bit of fun this weekend...writing compettition? nice...
ReplyDeletewent to a st paddys celebration...recovering today...
I'll have two ounces of that blue sky please! A calm weekend to recharge the batteries. Nice one!
ReplyDeleteI love the series with the Cockatoo sliding into the hollow branch, especially that last one with just its head sticking out. Looks like it was a good walk.
ReplyDeleteOowoo doggie bottom! I like! (Oops, that sounded scary and I hope no one but you reads this. Cause you know that I'm harmless
ReplyDelete;-))
Having cockatoos living in trees around you is soooo exotic. Although in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam there is a whole colony of the parakeets, but they are not native to our country.
Good luck with the job hunt next week. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.
hells, your photos are better and better. i love to see your birds. you and annie don't totally replace anon, but the tweets you offer make me happy.
ReplyDeleteare you saying you will be given chanel # 5? are you? i hope so. :)
love
kj
That's my favorite kind of weekend...just a lot of nothing and all very enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteLove those cockatoo shots...adorable!
I realized it was a stupid idea to go on subutex not under supervision before I got to your comment but you're right. It was when I got someone asking for advice & I had to qualify everything with "well I can't advise" and "be careful" and "do it through a clinic" that it was blaringly obvious this was what I SHOULD DO.
ReplyDeleteYou know you are lucky to have birds like those even if they do make a ruckus. Our birds sing like angels. Might not look as good but o my God the song is amazing in spring, like a chorus from heaven
It made me tired just reading about the weekend when you "did very little at all". Slow down.
ReplyDeleteNice photo shoot! I have no money, either, although I always seem to have some chardonnay around.
ReplyDeleteHi I got your most recent comment. "Joy Man" that wasn't a euphamism that was sarcasm the lowest form of wit. He would have been my Misery Man had I correctly named him, the bastard.
ReplyDeleteEven though it was good, the gear just didn't do anything much for me. Bastard stuff. So I won't fall too far off that wagon.
Main difference I can see is that I'm on antipsychotics already so the "sanitizing" effect it had on me is pre-empted and there's nothing more for gear to do. I know I had a sudden flash of sanity today I'm just flabberghasted that I can be as fucked up as I am to write the things I do. I hate that. But I refuse to delete. I have a "no embarrassment" policy at mine which means I keep stuff up no matter how shaming. I wouldn't know what to and not to remove etc etc so I just keep it all up "this is who I was today" type thing, y'know... Your comments are funny I nearly fell over laughing about those raucous birdies..!
with spring here soon, you'll bed into fall/autumn... does it cool off then?
ReplyDeleteFor doing very little you sure have done a lot.
ReplyDeleteLove this weeks photos, especially the cockatoo. He's a cheeky bugger.
hi i answered your comment then the computer lost it so you get a less babblesome version
ReplyDeleteok this was what dr headshrinko diagnosed
schizoaffective disorder: bipolar type (there is a depressive type where you ONLY get depression that is definitely not me because...)...
the differential diagnosis meaning what it is if diagnosis one is inaccurate is bipolar disorder
so I am "bipolar" as in 2 poles i come between manic depression and schizophrenia on the lovely spectrum they write about
he's seen me a handful of times the first time was a long time ago and i was "normal" but every other time I was hyper and couldn't hide it (it's REALLY hard to hide when you're too bubbly, it would have come across as irritation or hostility if I tried to hide it I just couldn't) he can tell very much the how muches I know he judges me on how fast I talk not just the speed of the talk but the speed of the reaction (ie no pause before I talk) all this stuff I can be aware of but I couldn't fake it up or hide it if I tried I say this because I think people thought I somehow was drugged and he assumed this drugged state was mental illness but he diagnosed me inside a drug clinic he knows very well the difference in presentation eg when you're high on coke you talk a little bit faster but you don't go into mental hyperspace, when you go too "high" you get paranoia but you're nowhere near as fast as I went on that manic thing I went several thousand miles an hour, I felt like I had electricity pylons running through my head it was WAY stronger than any drugs I have ever encountered so that's what happened I'm bored of reading about it it's all the same shit spouted over and over and repeated endlessly and it's very very dull
actually that's how i feel today: DULL! i hope you feel better than that!
but i did appreciate that you and a few others heaved up stuff I hadn't found...
ReplyDelete... and I'm not manic. I'm just not using enough punctuation.
And I'm gonna shut up now.
Walkies!
ReplyDeleteAlright Baked Baino
ReplyDeleteI watched Ewan McGregor in the Beatrix Potter film he was really good. Ghost writer was trailed at the beginning of one of my other DVDs but it didn't seem so exciting. I actually prefer thriller novels to the films, by a long way. Or thriller TV progs. They're somehow more engaging.
You guys have some really excellent and exotic wildlife; compared to what we have here in the most fucked up country on the planet; after to Japan!
ReplyDeleteHmmm . . . . . . .
How often do you reckon Cockies get their bum bitten by a dozing possum? I love those pink gum blossoms*!*
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen The Ghost yet, but I want to. I enjoyed the book.
ReplyDeleteYour weekends of idleness sound exhausting. Hate to see what you're like when you're actually busy!
Love all your photographs and sounds like you needed a bit of a down weekend. Although, that wedding was a good one!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos and wish I was there to have a walk with you.
