Breakaway

*sob* I tried for hours to find an MP3 of this song . . .it was my Art Garfunkel sad song when I had to leave an English lover and return to Australia after an incredible three months in Europe but now it has new resonance as we prepare to get up at 4.00am to drive Clare and Jem to the airport. I won't hear from her until next Monday or Tuesday when she's settled in Rio . . that will be the longest I have ever gone without talking to my girl whether at home or 12,000 miles away. It's transitioned from a lover's lament to a mother's sigh . . .

I watch the distant lights along the runway
disappear into the evening sky.
Oh you know I'm with you on your journey,
never could say goodbye.

It's not the sun you're trying to find
something else is on your mind.
You need a little space and time to break away.
It's not the place you're going to,
it's just a phase you're going through.
Though I won't stop you, I don't want you to

Break away, fly across your ocean.
Break away, time has come for you.
Break away, fly across your ocean.
Break away, time has come...

For you to awaken in another country,
greet the morning under foreign skies.
Leaving me to face another Monday,
it's not easy to get by...

It's not the sun you're trying find
something else is on your mind.
You need a little space and time to break away.
It's not the place you're going to
it's just a phase you're going through.
Though I won't stop you, I don't want you to

Break away, fly across your ocean.
Break away, time has come for you.
Break away, fly across your ocean.
break away, time has come for you
Break away, fly across your ocean.
Break away...

Aw, sending you big hugs.

I'm sure she'll be fine and she'll definitely have a blast.

I tried finding a clip of Break Away on You Tube - but no such luck.

More hugs coming your way!

(((hugs)))

My twin brother's two girls, aged 22 and 20 are spending a year in South America - spending only a small part of the time together - and they're having an absolute blast. Both are drop dead gorgeous and just like ClareBear, are well able to fight their own corner.

Chin up! With today's technology you'll probably see/hear more of her than when she's at home. And there's no mess to have to clear-up!!!

More hugs winging their way from me. (((hugs))). Both you and she will be fine. The ‘bond’ will grow stronger for the distance. Today you start the countdown to her return!

As the song says, "You need a little space and time to break away." But it must be hard to let her do that when you're so close.
Hope she has a real good time in Rio.

Think of the exciting news ahead Baino; interesting and surprising news of what Clare and Jem are up to! It's all good!

Oki Doki - I'll give you one more week of this and then its time to get back on the horse! Happy Days loom ahead for both of you - new opportunities for you and an exciting new world for Clarebear. Remember, love is all around! And you'll always have my shoulder to lean on!

Thanks everyone. I wasn't fishing for sympathy, just remembered the song. Actually it was a good goodbye. We arrived in loads of time so they had their choice of seat. They were both very excited except for Jem's boyfriend who was visibly upset. The trip was booked early in the year then she fell in love!

However, I never come home from the airport the same way, had to do a u'ey before I hit Maroubra on the southern beaches, I was going in the completely wrong direction!

Adam, who had put in an all nighter was a silent navigator . . he slept all the way home!

I had today off and did what any self respecting mother who's lost a child would do - cleaned like a dervish!

All of you were right, it was the waiting and the long farewells that were making me teary. I'm cool now and Ad's been fantastic bless him. Time to focus on his little holiday in Thailand next month. At least that's only 2 weeks, duty free perfume and a couple of sarongs away.

We can check their 'adventures' via the blog link on my blogroll.

Oh Ropi . . I can see why you thought it was funny! In Austria they have T shirts to sell to the Americans (because they can be a bit ignorant) "There are No Kangaroos in Austria". I've had Americans ask me what language do I speak, so I reel off the names of our Northern train stations:

Wrarrawee, turramurra, killara . . and throw in a few city names: Parramatta benalong budgewoi .hehehe . . does that make me mean too? I don't think so.
