All Things Being Equal . . .

It’s weird. Last weekend we had a general election and here we are almost 5 days later and we don’t have a government. And guess what? Everything is going along swimmingly. Without the interference of politicians, the country appears to be running itself. Yes we have equal partners, a hung parliament an equal election result. Most unusual but it seems that nobody wants a budgie smuggler or a red haired atheist female in charge of the country. So what now?

Let sleeping dogs lie I say, sack the pollies, let the public servants run the joint and reinvest all their perks and Salaries into the economy.

They haven't decided yet? Well, here's a chance for a world first. Dual government. Give it a try. Then they could both get on with delivering their promises and twice as much would be done.

I'm less opposed to the red head than to the budgie smuggler, but I would like more consensus and that seems a remote possibility at this time.

We can only hope.

You said 'budgie smuggler' but also 'red head, atheist'. I would also add 'budgie smuggler christian' just to be equal.

I quite like what is going on now. The country is not running itself. We are in caretaker mode. Different ...

Yep, I took the shots of JG at USYD in June 2009. I was astounded how impressive she is in person. I simply joined the press pack and went where they went. A great morning to be behind a camera. Hundreds of shots ...

I think we should leap at the opportunity to un-Federate & let the states have at it - that way we will see just how useless 3 tiers of guvinmnt are and maybe ... just maybe ... effect some positive change ... or not!

Just like Britain's then , eh? Yes, these in between moments does rather make one think what on earth do they do if the country run fairly well w/o them. Oh dear me. lol. Happy thursday to you, dear Baino.

I dunno, it looks like Julia may end up running the government after all. Apparently the independent representatives who are going to be the tie-breakers are pissed at Tony Abbott for not allowing an independent assessment of what his proposed financial might lead to, and they've been voicing their disappointment with him. The man may have shot himself in the foot.

Not an unusual situation here in the UK. During the three-month summer recess all the politicians disappear to their country estates and their second homes in Tuscany and the civil servants keep everything ticking over. The politicians aren't as indispensible as they think they are.

Hahahaha! Budgie smuggler! ROFL! Now, does that mean what it says, or does it mean something in Australianese that I don't know?

So you too have a hung parliament, do you? Funny, our country ran along quite nicely without a proper government till they cobbled one together, as well!

In too many elections, people vote for "the lesser of two evils." Let's add an additional candidate to ALL elections: "None of the above." If "None" wins, nobody fills the spot for the full term. Maybe that'd cut down on a lot of politicians' crap.

I'll admit to feeling bit happy and smug because I'm in the electorate that voted in the Greens guy Adam Bandt.

And he lives only one street away from me !!!!!

Funny TT, Baino. In my little corner of the world, some public servants are being paid as if they were running the country, so...

I won't expect an answer. I suspect they've come and taken you away by now.
