Just a Little Loopy

Leah didn't tag me officially (naughty Leah) but invited others to do a post in their native handwriting. It's interesting to see how people who spend their time typing on the blog actually write. Leah was a surprise. Neat, no smudges or misspellings, clearly printed, no flamboyance , just straight sans serif and easy to read . . . maybe that's how she is . . . I actually thought she would be wild and scrawly and loads of loops . For someone who types 90wpm, I rarely bother to write apart from the odd note berating 'da son' for making a mess or leaving orders for 'da daughter' to bring in the washing. So here you go. Cacky handedness at it's finest . .

You'll have to click to enlarge. Written in blue, medium ballpoint on white 80gsm Reflex.

I then went online (as you do) and had a go at an analysis of handwriting although you have to write with a mouse which isn't really indicative . . their analysis:

You plan ahead, and are interested in beauty, design, outward appearance, and symmetry. True
You are a social person who likes to talk and meet others. True
You are negative, fearful, resistant, doubtful, and/or selfish. True
You are a talkative person, maybe even a busybody! Maaaaybeeee!
You enjoy life in your own way and do not depend on the opinions of others. False I enjoy life but man, I'm so into the opinion of others!

Oh poo! Another website analyses me as: A person with light pressure writing (not much emotional or physical energy) and a left slant (tries to avoid emotional situations). This person will be emotionally withdrawn, cold, indifferent and self centered! Clearly he's coming out of a bad relationship with a left hander.

Have a go and report back to Aunty!

Clearly I'm only a little loopy!

Baino, I took Mum to a foot doctor, yesterday. As she is legally blind, I help her fill out the forms( usually she just has to sign them ). Wouldn't you know it? The nurse lady there could tell that I was not only from a military background( by way of how I write the dates ), but also that I was left-handed! Bloody smart, that girl! I know I've a post related to this, as does Megan, wot? My writing's so bad now, that I type all my letters up( which I abhor )...yours I can read, so no worries there! Nice.

I've heard they can build a profile of serial killers using handwriting analysis - they'd be hard pressed to even read mine as it's illegible!

I used to do graphology. It showed some VERY interesting falseness in one particular person's exaggeratedly hystrionic scrawl I used to know so I'm sure there's some truth in it. I'd just love to see an analysis of Arabic and Chinese writing too ~ haha!

I am ambidextrous but I write with my right hand on paper. At the board with chalk I write with left hand but we have this new table with pen and if I am writing to that I use my right hand again. At eating I am a left hander again. At table tennis I can switch hands but with my left hand my serve is not very good so I usually play with right hand but in general I use both of my hands and if something happened to one I could switch and assimilate quickly.

It is quite readable except at some parts.

I got this result:

You like to be surrounded by four solid walls.

You are affectionate, passionate, expressive, and future-oriented.
You are not very reserved, impatient, self-confident and fond of action.
You enjoy life in your own way and do not depend on the opinions of others.

I am not sure how true it is but today I am not on the top peak of my mental effectiveness since I have needed (so far) 3 comments to write down what I wanted.

i think you writing is actually quite elegant...flowing. will have to play with the analysis tool in a bit and get back to you.

I will go get some tylenol now! HAHA!

That is very interesting. I may follow up with a post about it at some stage.

Interestingly you're the only lefthander I know who writes backhanded. (left slope). My first husband, three of his many siblings and my grand daughter are all left handed. All of them write "normally". My dad was ambidexterous, wrote with his right hand and drew with his left. I'm right handed myself, but never developed a particular style, so experts would have a hard time analysing my handwriting. It looks different every time I write something. Unless I'm being careful, it starts out neat, then degenerates into messy scrawl.I'd love to have handwriting that always looks the same and neat too. At this late stage though I think I'll stick with typing if I'm doing a snail mail letter. It's easier for the recipient to read that's for sure.

So cool! I'm gonna try it for sure!
Thanks you!

You plan ahead, and are interested in beauty, design, outward appearance, and symmetry.
You are a shy, idealistic person who does not find it easy to have relationships, especially intimate ones.
You are diplomatic, objective, and live in the present.
You are a talkative person, maybe even a busybody!
You are self-confident and like to bring attention to yourself.

How hard is it to write with a mouse! Who even knew such a thing could be done! Well, there's ^ my analysis, most of it applies to me, but I'm not at all talkative and I certainly don't like to bring attention to myself.

I'm guessing you're a lefty? Me too. I keep hoping for a left-handed baby, but so far no luck. It's still too early to tell with the baby.

Your handwriting looked as I expected!

Trying to analyse a person's character from their handwriting is pretty dodgy. It might be right, it might be completely wrong. Like you, I found Leah's handwriting a big surprise judging by what I know of her already. But your handwriting is more or less what I expected!

I could read your writing just fine and saw nothing wrong with it. You are a lefty and are supposed to slant that way, duh, why do they try to force you to change. But my hubby slants like a rightey, so someone made him change. Great job.

Okay, I like this one. I will write something and post it, but you are not going to like it. Cause when I write it's awesome. Not sure why, okay well actually I do know why. Our mom used to make us sit for hours and hours every day after school until we learned to write our cursive properly, she said that people need to be able to read what we write. I think it was what the Nuns did to her and since she writes pretty much like all of us, I am sure they must have. And then over the years we have all added our own little style to it. So I guess that is why we do so well. Lots and lots of hours and hard work. Plus I have noticed that they do not teach kids today how to hold their pencils or pens properly. Oh we got in so much trouble if we did not hold them correctly. One daughter holds pen like me and writes almost exactly like me and the other does not and we have a harder time, but she thinks she writes really good. Oh well. She tries.

God bless.

HEY!! She stole my g. My "g" is exactly the same as in the 4th example.

You are awesome for posting this! I loved seeing your handwriting, and for me it didn't really feel like a surprise. I like the left-slant, it is so individual.

Now, I will also admit to being a bit overly interested to read what you and Nick thought about my handwriting--it is absolutely shameful how much I enjoy hearing about myself!

heh.

I don't know any left-handers that have truly mastered the right forward slant. You handwriting is legible! My cursive is readable, but not my signature. It's just a bunch of squiggly lines! :)

I came up with:
You plan ahead, and are interested in beauty, design, outward appearance, and symmetry.
You are a shy, idealistic person who does not find it easy to have relationships, especially intimate ones.
You are affectionate, passionate, expressive, and future-oriented.
You are a talkative person, maybe even a busybody!

Perhaps the person that wrote this is conflicted themselves. First is says I'm shy, then it says I'm a talkative busybody!?

Subby how do military people write dates? Americans put the month first I think in general, we use dd/mm/yyyy most of the time. Actually I often wonder how pharmacists read prescriptions medico's writing is so awful!

Iteresting isn't it. I did play around on the internet to try to find something that would analyse mine but . .well . .had other things to do.

Hmm . . Arabic and Chinese would be interesting because each letter has to be so perfectl formed to make sense Gleds. I wonder if they do have individual spins when written in a hurry by hand?

Ropi you make me laugh this morning THREE comments. I m so lucky! Ambidextrous, very 'handy'. I write left handed, set up an ironing board and sewing machine to suit my leftyness, oh and I hold a pool cue in my left hand but that's about it, everything else I do with my right hand. And from what I know of you, I think your analysis is pretty accurate.

Ah but Brian, it looks neat enough but hard to read and heads in the wrong direction . .bit like me!

Sorry Otin gave you a headache did it? Or perhaps a neck crick?

Do GrannyMar, I love to see what people's handwriting is like and whether it matches my impression of them. I'm betting yours is just about perfect!

River I hardly ever write these days other than perhaps in a greeting card or a shopping list. Its a shame really. I wonder if it will survive in an form other than as a decorative script. I think I write backhand because nobody tried to correct it. My left handed friends twist their hands in a real contortion to make their writing slope forward. Always looks so unnatural to me. Loved your analysis and you're write, not too accurate with a mouse! And I believe the bit about not wanting attention otherwise you'd START A BLOG! (pressure much?)

Have a go Marianna! But you're a teacher so I'm betting yours is altered a bit by having to be legible for students.

Lefties of the world unite Heather. There's something about our brain that makes us good sportspeople with a bat or raquet . .there's a high proportion of left-handed elite sports people in games like tennis. (Or so I'm told).

Really Ian? What an intuative man you are. Then you know me quite well I think.

Is that so Nick? Interesting. Yeh it's a bit of a dodgy trade but I think analysis is more based on loops and lines and the 'flamboyance' factor. I'm betting your writing is pretty tidy actually.

Mrsupole that's true about holding pens but then I remember our writing classes were done with fountain pens so if you didn't hold them properly the ink wouldn't flow. Go on, post your writing, I'd love to see it!

Ooh Ropi . . going back to have a look! Are you loopy?

Haha . . Loved it Leah. I don't usually post on a Saturday but I liked this one. I hope some others take it up! You're pretty awesome yerself! (there! Did you like hearing that? I have more where that came from!)

VE thats it! Why didn't I think of that. You're so clever . .maybe a banana lounge like yours?

Funista? Haha

JD it's pretty spot on! You know it is! Except the busybody bit. Scrawly signatures are supposed to be good because they're harder to forge and easier to match for verification purposes.

Baino, most Americans( from what I've seen, anyway )write mm/dd/yy, only using the last two digits of the year. But also dd/mm/yyyy( usually on legal documents ). In the military it looked like this:
yy/mmm/dd or 89AUG27, par exemplar. Us lefties can write in all sort of manner, wot?

Baino said...

Ok thanks for clearing that up. I didn't realise the military wrote dates differently (much nicer avatar by the way!)

I had no problems reading this Baino- and I think your handwriting is rather lovely actually!

Doctors' handwriting is notoriously difficult to read- have had problems with this over the years!

People from France have very distinctive handwriting, so it would be interesting to see Candie's!

Your back slant is not necessarily because you are a leftie but does shows you are very vulnerable. While you feel things very deeply you do not want others to know how deeply or how badly you can be hurt or have been hurt in the past.
The stick I is an indication of independence. Actually you have very nice writing but most people do not like their own writing, as they do not like that own photos because it reveals themselves to others.
You use the check mark t bar or the star shaped t indicating that you are persistent and tenacious. The missing I dots and apostrophe are an indication you do not pay close attention to details. I also see that you are your own worst critic and when you make a decision will second guess yourself wondering if you should have gone the other way. I tell people like you to be the last to order when in a group because with every order you may change your mind.
Mentally you are a cumulative thinker so you learn best by doing rather than by watching or listening to instructions. You may take longer but you are creative and will remember longer than people who catch on quicker so are apt to skip steps. They will rely on you to keep them straight or bail them out.
The connectedness of the writing indicates you are a people person sociable and friendly and enjoy talking. You will also debate a point but will not be the type who cannot stand to lose an argument. Even your printing is connected and there is a sign there that shows you may say things without thinking how they sound and later regret it.
The lower zone (bottom loops) indicate you like activity and movement especially involving the legs but show a problem in the area of the foot. The left? You also enjoy a challenge and learning new things.
You are a worrier who often frets about thing beyond your control. Just let go no one is perfect and to expect perfection makes everyone unhappy in the end.

Rhonda do it. Such fun!

Renee . .haha . .it's one of my oft used phrases frankly. So many opportunities . . And for fuck's sake what are you doing trawling blogs . .don't you have more pressing things to attend to?

Cinnamon, Candie's away this weekend but I'll put the pressure on! And thanks, it used to be so much neater. I don't know how my uni markers ever managed it. Maybe I got my degree by default cos they couldn't be bothered reading it!

Well hello hello hwexpert! You are so spot on it's a bit spooky! You totally nailed it and how you found me I'll never know! What's totally weird is that I've been having pain in my left foot! Sitting too long in front of the computer at work. You are a guru! Absolutely 100% spot on!

I'm not very loopy at all! I tried the handwriting thingy, but as you say, it's hard to approximate when you're using a mouse (or, in my case, a laptop mousepad. I had to dot my "i" with a circle - not me at all!

I am left handed (or cack-handed as my granddad used to say) and my writing has no slant. Can I possibly say that handwriting analysis is a load of codswallop? Just my opinion, of course, but really, how could the size of a loop of a g have anything to do with what you are like as a person?

Fascinating!

I'm a lefty too as you know, but I slant the 'right' way. Catholic school training! :)
