It Get's Earlier Every Year

Did you know that Christmas is coming? . . . Yep, it's the day after Father’s Day in Australia and, just like Hot Cross Buns predictably go on sale on Boxing day - already the Christmas displays are going up in the shopping centres. Not quite the full caroling malarky just yet but the halls are being decked with banners and display cabinets are in place. I guarantee that by the end of the week there’ll be bells a jinglin’ and tinsel a tingelin’ all through Castle Towers shopping centre and it’s only the 3rd of September . . . and I thought it was Il Diablo coming to town . . apparently, it’s Santa Clause - just hope he doesn't get shot down as I put my Christmas Tree up!

I swear by the goddess that if I see anything Christmassy in the stores before November I am going to do something wicked. Rank bloody commercialisation.
Mutter.
Besides, I've never really got this doing Christmas thing in the Southern Hemisphere, doesn't really work, does it?

I want an upside down tree!

Now as for the rest of it, you can keep it thanks very much. I hate Christmas!

Oh you're a bunch of bah humbugs! I love Christmas but hate all the consumerism around it. It is weird having it in the heat and so many Australians still do the full on hot dinner - we stick to fancy canapes and salads and seafood and a chocolate fountain with strawbs and sit round the table outside with our silly hats and Christmas T shirts! Check "My Photos" for last year's effort!

Yep, commercialisation has stifled the Christmas spirit. :)

cool blog! I was in Sydney a while back. Christmas is so underrated there I thought, I didn't see one queue for Santa and Hungry Jacks (Burger King) wouldn't hang any decorations in case they offended the non Christian types!

JD: It's not that bad . . .I loves Christmas I does . . .spirits flowing fine down here come December (in more ways than one)

Welcome Nonny (although you're cheating by remaining completely anonymous - we're an open circle of nom de plumes here and if you turn out to be Daz you're in big trouble!)

Yes political correctness gone mad, we now sing Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep and ban Carols in Kindergartens. Fuck that, I like my trimmings just not in September!

What's the alternative, bloody Alcohol free Ramadan and no food during daylight! Now that's Bah Humbug!

Bah humbug!
It's bleedin' September!!!
I don't want to hear any more of this Christmas talk until November at the earliest.
BTW, I already know what I want for Christmas.
:)

Brianf: I know what you want for Christmas but can't do much about that . . . you'll have to settle for a tube of Vegemite. Ho ho ho . . .

I can confirm that Nonny or whatever the fuck it was isn't me.

I'd be Francis Ake, or Richard E. Alperson.

Daz: Sorry I was blithering early in the morning and so deleted my own nonsensical comment. You know I don't edit unless it's offensive to others. What I meant to say was . . you did feed my ego by being the 11th to comment. I love double digits!
